Coach Yochum, joined McQuaid Jesuit Crew Founding Coach James R. Van Dyke S.J., in the spring of 2006 as Assistant, until Coach Van Dyke’s departure for NYC that summer. Most recently he was Head Coach of Varsity Boys for five years at the Pittsford Crew Club. Coach Yochum is a veteran rower and Coach with over 43 years continuous competitive experience in the sport - having begun his rowing career at Syracuse University in 1964. He has worked with the University of Rochester , Rochester Rowing Club and Genesee Waterways Center junior, open, and masters’ rowers, and continues to provide Course Marshal duties at the Head of the Genesee Invitational. Coach Yochum was the area’s first informal junior rowing coach in the 1970’s and notably, Senator Joseph E. Robach was one of his early students. He is retired from a varied career in recreation and human services with the City of Rochester , including Director of a Recreation Center and the City’s Summer Meals Program, and of local job training programs. He is now retired and continues to compete at the master’s rowing level.

Mr. Bardotz joined McQuaid Jesuit Crew in 2006 as Assistant Coach, bringing both high school and college level rowing and coaching experience. He began rowing in Buffalo as a high school sophomore, winning the All High Singles race in his senior year. He continued rowing competively with West Side Rowing Club after his graduation. In 1991, Coach joined the Rochester Rowing Club, holding the position of Secretary until the Club later merged with the Genesee Waterways Center, and coaching adult and scholastic learn-to-row. Coach Bardotz's experience includes seven years with the RRC, a Fall season with St. John Fisher College and a Spring season with the Pittsford Rowing Club, as well as learn-to-coach programs for city schools.  He is a US Rowing Certified Coach with supplementary training from numerous seminars and conventions, most recently taking part in a camp at the Craftsbury Sculling Center. He continues to compete at the master's rowing level as a sculler and a sweep rower.
