Friends of Scholastic Crew Inc, Portfolio Positions 2007-08
The Board operates with Planning Portfolios where a Voting Director has responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all tasks. Theses functional groupings ensure that the volunteer manpower that FOSC provides for member-schools is well planned and managed, i.e. fundraising, communications, etc. Non-voting elected Directors oversee team tasks and related volunteers, and are referred to as Coordinators. Subject to oversight by the Executive Committee, Portfolio Managers and Coordinators develop policies and procedures to perform their tasks. These are captured in the Operating Manual and handbooks. Portfolios are reviewed from time to time for readjustment to ensure that they meet the developmental needs of FOSC.
Fundraising & Development Portfolio Manager is responsible for developing, achieving and monitoring agreed-upon fundraising targets. This is achieved through the FOSC Fundraising Policy and promoted activities, working with the general public, trusts, corporations, educational institutions and government. The Manager coordinates FOSC Awards including Grad Blades and Sainted Mothers Volunteer Recognition.
Communications & Public Relations Portfolio Manager is responsible for coordinating internal and external communications to parents, school and community through web pages, brochures, parent email accounts, master contact list, calendar, media, photography, archives and volunteer coordination form.
Boathouse & Equipment Portfolio Manager is responsible for general operating, upkeep, security and maintenance of the boathouse and docks, supports the purchase, safe usage and maintenance of equipment, oversees Equipment Loaning and supports coaches with launch and trailer drivers. The Dock Master reports to the Manager and oversees the daily activity at the boathouse enforcing FOSC Safety Rules and Codes of Conduct.
Membership Portfolio Manager is responsible for coordinating Crew membership including recruitment, registration, fees, rosters, forms and waivers, parent welcome and orientation, and coach practice and regattas scheduling and mandatory parent information meetings.
FOSC Events Manager is responsible for coordinating strategic development projects, including overseeing the FOSC Regatta in partnership with the Race Director, FOSC participation in the Head of the Genesee Regatta and manages the Board Business Plan in order to achieve planned business objectives.
Hospitality & Logistics Committees: The Committees are headed by a parent-nominated Coordinator who liaises with the FOSC Board through the team Communication/Parent Coordinators. The Committee operates self-sufficiently and is not governed by the FOSC Board . The Committee collects and records funds to cover their own expenses and is fully accountable to the crew parents. The Committee ensures that 1) regattas and team special events and traditions are planned and managed regarding food, beverages, travel, hotel accommodation, security, and chaperones; 2) practice transportation & porch sitters are coordinated for scheduled practices; and 3) crew attire is ordered & delivered.
